Maldives - Vacation in Paradise
(Written by: Ikumi Takada, Sept 2002)
The Maldives, about 700 kilometers southwest of Sri Lanka, are made up of many tiny islands, which have evolved from circular coral reefs in the Indian Ocean. Some people describe the place a “refugee” or “distressing center”, where time stands still and only light, color and tranquillity prevail. Being a perfect retreat for people living in a hectic world, the islands are also the place of a dream for many divers. We are also divers and spent most our time in scuba diving.
One of our friends had the 100th diving anniversary there. So we celebrated her 100th dive by forming “100″ with our bodies.

Other friend had the 30th anniversary, and we also celebrated it under the sea.

The night of the anniversary day, Muhhamed, the waiter who waited our table throughout the week, gave us a surprise dinner. He collected flowers in his free time and scattered them on the table in order to make a special dinner table for us.
It became one of the greatest 100th diving anniversaries one diver could have.
