Taiwan, the new travel hub? Trips to Hong Kong; Macau; Thailand; and Japan
(Written by: Jerry Hong, between 2001~2003)
My first trip was to Macau and Hong Kong. I had to go on this trip for a Visa run. I only went for 24 hours, because I missed my first plane so I had to catch another one the next day. Hopefully next time I can go for 48 hours. But it was still fun. Total amount spent, including air fare: $500. Total number of stamps aquired in my passport: 8…. Leave Taiwan, enter Macau, leave Macau, enter Hong Kong, leave Hong Kong, enter Macau, leave Macau, enter Taiwan.
Well, I just had my second trip on August 18, 2000. I had to go to Hong Kong AGAIN… Another Visa run. But this time I went with Kelly. We went to some really cool places. We had a great time, even though we missed our flight. So our trip was cut short. But on the bright side; When we were coming back, they over booked the plane, so we were moved up to “First Class.” Two trip and 2 missed flights. My record is not too good so far.
Trip number 3, this time we were off to Thialand for Christmas. I made the flight on time, I guess 3 was my lucky number. Thailand was HOT! It felt like the summers in Taiwan, but this was in December! We took a lot of pictutes, but the camera that we used didn’t really do the places we went to any justice.
In the Beginning of April, I went to Japan for 6 days. I had a blast and got to see some really cool cars. I don’t have that manygood pictures but the ones I posted up are pretty good. I shold have learned my leasson from trip 3 and brought a good camera with me. Next time!
In the beginning of July I had a chance to take a few days off from work. So I went back to Japan, again only for 6 days. This time I had a much better camera than my first trip (Thanks Kenny). So I have a lot of pictures to share with everyone. Everytime I go to Japan the weather always seem to be at its extremes. The first time I went in April, it was freezing COLD, in fact it had just snowed earlier that morning in Toyko. I actually had to buy some winter clothes in Toyko because I wasn’t prepared. This time is was at the other end of the spectrum, it was blazing HOT…. I think the temperature there was even higher than it was in Taiwan! At least it wasn’t so humid. But never the less, I had a fabulous time, again. A big thanks everyone in Japan that took care of me. I got to see a lot more places this time, and I also got to drive my new car! Even though it was only for 10 minutes…… had no gas in the tank. But I still almost managed to get myself killed within that 10 minutes. (Mental note for next time: MUST drive on the LEFT hand side of the road, not the right!)
