[China Trip] Days 7 - 14 in Beijing

(Written back around summer 2002)

On the seventh day of our tour we flew from the Nanjing Lukou International Airport (quite impressive actually) to Beijing International Airport where we were greeted by a new regional guide named Jack. He had an interesting joke - that it was a good thing he didn’t catch the plane with us as someone was bound to say Hi Jack! It is here that we were to complete Days 7 to 11 of the Silkway Holidays tour and continue on with the Looch Extended Tour.

We went to many different attractions but perhaps one of the highlights for me was climbing the Great Wall at Badaling. For those of yous who I met at the top, I’ve posted the photos. Click here for the group shot, and here for the Vietnamese guy. (??? Hoang Duc Cuong Tinh Uy Quang Tei ???).

The following are the places we visited in Beijing. Pictures will be re-linked later.

Day 7 : Summer Palace
Day 8 : Temple of Heaven; Tiananmen Square; Forbidden City; Peking Duck Dinner
Day 9 : Great Wall at Badaling; Ming Tombs; Cloisonne Factory
Day 10 : miscellaneous street scenes
Day 11 : Day Market; Ancient Observatory; Panjia Yuan Market; Tiananmen Shops; Sanlitun Bar Street - meeting with university friend
Day 12 : Dongan Dept. Store; Baihai Park; Museum Chinese History; Wang Fu Jing Shopping district
Day 14 : Beijing Departure

You will notice that there aren’t any photos for Day 13. I wasn’t feeling too well and was getting tired of shopping/visiting temples etc… so I more or less stayed in the hotel most of the day.
